How to Calculate GPA

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is a weighted average of all your course grades for a given semester. Each letter grade is converted to a grade point on the 4.0 scale:

• A+ / A = 4.0
• A− = 3.7
• B+ = 3.3 | B = 3.0 | B− = 2.7
• C+ = 2.3 | C = 2.0 | C− = 1.7
• D+ = 1.3 | D = 1.0 | D− = 0.7
• F = 0.0

The formula: GPA = Σ(Grade Points × Credit Hours) ÷ Total Credit Hours

What Is a Good GPA?

A GPA of 3.5 or above is generally considered excellent and qualifies for Dean's List at most universities. A 3.0 GPA is typically required to maintain academic standing. A GPA below 2.0 may put students on academic probation.
